Quincy Jones & Lionel Richie Prep 'We Are the World' Sequel
In support of Haiti’s recent tragedy, music legends Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones are ready to assemble the second installment to “We Are the World.” This year will mark the 25th anniversary of the first “We Are The World” offering which was organized by Ken Kragen, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
The two are requesting the company of music’s most prominent voices on February 1st in Los Angeles to participate in the sequel. With the Grammys concluding the night before, Richie and Jones are hoping the industry’s elite will stay around for one more night to contribute to the effort.
So far, Usher, Natalie Cole and John Legend have been confirmed. As in 1985, the effort will be turned into a video and a single will be released in which all the proceeds will be given to relief efforts for Haiti. Grammy producer, Ken Ehrlich will be producing the event which is set to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
