Tina Knowles Files For Divorce

mathew-tina

Late last week word broke out that after nearly 30 years of marriage Tina Knowles filed for divorce from Mathew Knowles.

The split of Beyonce’s parents follows previous reports of a paternity suit filed against Mathew by actress Alexsandra Wright, from Los Angeles, who claimed that Papa Knowles is the father of her unborn child.

The 55-year-old mother of Beyonce began divorce proceedings against her husband on November 11.

However, while the two are ending their marriage neither party plans to do so on bad terms.

Both Mathew and Tina have released a statement that reads:

“The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners. If anyone is expecting an ugly messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed. We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter.”

Buju Banton Gets Legal Help From Label

As the legal case is brought up against reggae superstar, Buju Banton, he's winning the court of public opinion as his recording label stands by its artist.

Gargamel Music Incorporated has announced loyal support for Banton, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, who was arrested December 10 on federal drug conspiracy charges.

"It's on and popping," Gargamel president Tracii McGregor explained to CaribWorldNews.com. "This is Buju and we're going to get him the top legal representation there is. We are ready to fight. I saw him yesterday and told him to go inward and preserve you."

The top legal aid will come in the form of David Oscar Markus. Markus is a well-known figure in high-profile drug cases including that of former Panama military dictator Manuel Noriega.

The Grammy-nominated reggae star whose latest album, “Rasta Got Soul” received a Grammy nod, was indicted last Tuesday (December 15) with two other men for allegedly attempting to distribute five kilograms of cocaine. Last Wednesday (December 16), Banton waived his bail hearing rights and will face trial in Tampa, Florida. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 20 years to life in prison.

T.I. Released From Prison

Sources from Atlantic Records have confirmed with BET.com that T.I. has been released from prison. The news comes to a surprise to the entire industry as T.I. was slated to serve at least three more months at the Arkansas Forrest City prison.

The source from Atlantic Records confirmed with BET News’ Sharon Carpenter that the rapper was abruptly released from the facility and is currently in route to Atlanta to serve the rest of his time in a half way house.

“You live within this house that is broken into areas for living, and you are permitted to leave during the day for certain reasons of which would be employment, medical reasons, things of that nature, and you return to the halfway house in the evening,” T.I.'s attorney, Steve Sadow, told XXL about the conditions of Tip's release. “So it’s a restriction on your liberty but it’s a way for you to reenter into society and not be confined within a jail type institution 24-hours a day.”

Kid Cudi Wrongly Arrested Then Released

Kid Cudi has landed himself in some more trouble, sort of. The Cleveland native was detained by L.A. authorities Monday (December 21) due to suspicion of a local burglary. Cudi and his crew were apprehended after leaving a photo shoot at an undisclosed location on Melrose Ave.

After receiving a tip, five patrol cars surrounded Cudi and his entourage placing them under arrest. Clearly an error, the officers let Cudi and company go after recognizing the situation was a case of mistaken identity.

Surprisingly, Cudi brushed the minor set back off his shoulders and remained diplomatic about the misunderstanding, but noted it wasn’t a good feeling to be handcuffed for the brief moment. “I'm just happy to be back,” CuDi beamed. “I'm a free man! For that moment I was not free. I was in handcuffs. It did not feel very comfortable.”

Cudi even empathized that the L.A. area is no walk in the park and even understood the light use of excessive force from the LAPD. “We're in LA, it's a rowdy place in the United States, you know?" Cudi explained. "And a lot of sh*t goes down. And these cops have to use force. So, it's like, I understand that they were doing their job. I just wish we weren't in that place at that time.”

After a physical dispute in Vancouver during a performance, in which Cudi punched a fan for throwing a wallet onstage, Cudi decided to leave Lady Gaga’s, “Monster Ball” tour, to focus his attention on recording his sophomore LP, “Cudder.”

Baddest Chicks 2000's

Alicia Keys-Easy on the eyes and soft on the ears, Alicia Keys has become one of the sexiest artists this decade. Her natural beauty and talent surpass your favorite R&B songstress in a single heart beat.

Cassie-
Gracing just about every Sean John ad throughout the country, Cassie’s measurements are always the topic of discussion during any “Who’s The Baddest Female” barbershop conversation. A solid singer at best, Cassie’s the total package.

Jennifer Lopez-
Before Diddy needed a girl, he had one of the baddest women in the industry. J.Lo’s seductive frame, intriguing brown eyes and caramel complexion would melt the toughest of men.

Nicole Scherzinger-
Lead Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger is the industry’s silent killer. A structure every female dreams about, this Hawaiian/Filipino/Russian beauty leaves no room for improvement on any level. She’s flawless!

Aaliyah-
Aaliyah’s presence was breathtaking. Her signature strand of hair that covered her left eye drove men crazy and her voice was captivating. Heaven can now experience what we were blessed with for 22 years.

Beyonce'-
Jay wasn’t lying when he claimed he had the baddest chick in the game wearing his chain. A triple threat, Beyoncé is every man’s sweet dream. Deemed Billboard’s Top Female Artist of the Decade, Beyoncé is cut from a cloth that can’t be duplicated.

Nicki Minaj-
A rookie among the bunch, this Queens native turned heads quickly starting in 2008. Minaj’s trademark assets are incomparable. Who says Barbies weren’t sex symbols?

Rihanna-
This timid Barbadian princess has grown into an international Queen. The heart of a lion and the body of a goddess, Rihanna’s beauty will make your eyes water. Her revamped image had the boys begging for more.

Mariah Carey-
A legend on so many levels, Mariah Carey’s stock has remained top notch since the first day she stepped foot in the game. Her bouncy hair and light brown complexion only heightened her flawless smile and gratifying figure. There isn't a man on earth who wouldn't want to touch her body.

Claudette Ortiz-
Caramel complexion, body like heaven. Nine years after City High's hit single, "Caramel," flooded the airwaves, men are still raving about lead singer Claudette Ortiz. Now out of the limelight, the 28-year-old is still as gorgeous as ever.

Hottest Males of The Decade

Nelly-When Nelly debuted in 2000, his cute factor was the talk of the town amongst women. But it wasn't until "Hot In Herre," when he asked ladies to take off their clothes (taking off his own shirt in the video) that things really started to heat up.

Trey Songz-
Trying to convince women that he invented sex, R&B singer Trey Songz stole the hearts of women towards the end of the decade by sliding into the R&B's sexiest male spot.

Ray J-
From a steamy sex tape with Kim Kardashian to two seasons of his own bachelor-style reality show "For The Love of Ray J," Brandy's little brother is all grown up now.

Jay-Z-
The man primarily responsible for taking true hip-hop to a mature level this decade by proclaiming "30 was the new 20," Jay-Z upped the ante for other men in music with an unmatchable swagger.

Tyrese-
He used to win over women with songs like "Sweet Lady," but more recently, his film roles in movies like "Transformers 2" prove he's the next music celebrity with big Hollywood potential.

T.I.-
Atlanta's own T.I. snuck up onto the list of hottest males of the decade. The rapper consistently delivered the hits while also managing to make his big screen debut.

Usher-
In the 90s, Usher was just a baby-faced R&B singer. But in the new millennium, Usher grew up fast. A highly-publicized relationship with Chilli of TLC and a marriage/divorce with Tameka Foster kept ladies wondering what was really good with one of R&B's most successful singers.

Will Smith-
He may not make as much music these days, but one of Hollywood's highest paid actors did release two albums this decade. When it comes to Will Smith, there's no denying his appeal to the ladies.

Common-
The most attractive quality Common seems to have amongst women is his mind. The rapper/actor has won over the ladies with his message, his humbleness, and overall image. But that's not to say he doesn't have the looks to back it up.

LL Cool J-
His name says it all. Ladies Love Cool James. LL Cool J made a massive comeback this decade with "I Can Luv U Better," when he returned to the rap scene with a chiseled new look, showing the ladies you can stay relevant for more than just a decade.

Trey Songz Says There's No Beef With R. Kelly

After stunning the Internet with a diss song to R. Kelly over Jay-Z's "Death Of Auto-Tune" track, Trey Songz now says that there is no beef with the Chicago crooner.

The song, re-titled "Death Of Kells," criticizes Kelly for his use of Auto-Tune, but according to Songz there was no feud. "It wasn't a beef," he told MTV News. "It was me telling R. Kelly to take the damn Auto-Tune off his voice, which he did on his album. His album is good."

Meanwhile, Kells seemed rather unfazed by Songz’s criticism. Earlier this month, the Pied Piper responded to Trey-citing that his opinion didn’t matter.

During his interview with MTV News, Songz also spoke about his next album, "I'm trying to make sure I have an album out ASAP," he said. The Virginia R&B singer is looking to link up with local talent such as Pharrell and Timbaland, in addition to continue his work with Troy Taylor and Bryan Michael Cox.

Trey Songz's most recent release, “Ready,” has been nominated for Best Comtemporary R&B Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards.

T.I. to be Released from Prison in March

T.I. may be coming home sooner than expected. Speaking with the rapper’s lead attorney, Steve Sadow, XXLMag.com confirmed that T.I. is slated to be released from Arkansas’ Forrest City Prison in March 2010.

The release means Tip will serve roughly 10 months of his 366-day sentence. Per Sadow, Tip’s term will be shaved 54 days for good behavior and 14 days “that he had in custody prior to sentencing.”

“Now it is up to the [Federal] Bureau of Prisons to decide whether someone should be placed in a halfway house prior to the projected release date,” Sadow told XXL. “The Bureau of Prisons can do that and typically does it either a month before, or two months before… as much as six months before the projected release date.”

Sadow feels confident that the self-proclaimed, “King of the South” will be a free man sooner than later.

“We are hopeful that T.I. will be placed in a halfway house within the next month or so, which would be about two or three months before his projected release date,” Sadow explained. “We are hopeful for that, we do not have any control over it. The Bureau of Prisons makes that decision entirely on its own, they don’t share that decision with the public and they don’t share that decision with the defense lawyers. But we are hopeful because we know that T.I. has handled himself accordingly and conducted himself correctly while he has been incarcerated, we are hopeful that the Bureau of Prisons will give him two or three months of halfway house.”

LL Cool J Not Approved for Hall of Fame

As soon as NBA Hall of Famer, Michael Jordan, was eligible for induction, he was immediately voted in. The same cannot be said for hip-hop's own legend, LL Cool J. The rap icon failed to make the list as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2010 was recently announced.

While this was the first year that the Queens MC was nominated for the honor, no word has been given by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee committee as to why LL Cool J didn't make it.

To credit LL Cool J, he has one of the longest running careers in hip-hop, spanning 25 years and is truly one of hip-hop's first genuine superstars. With 13 albums under his belt, a total of eight of them going platinum, and two Grammy awards, LL Cool J was the first artist to sign with Def Jam Records. The superstar lyricist then went on to star in movies and TV, with his own sitcom, “In the House,” airing in the 90s.

Only two rap acts that have been admitted into the Hall to date—Grandmaster Flash and the Furious five, who were inducted in 2007, and fellow Queens, NY natives— Run D.M.C., who were awarded with the honor at last year's celebration.

The Stooges, Genesis and ABBA will all receive their Hall of Fame honors on March 15th, 2010 in New York's Waldorf Astoria. Currently, LL Cool J is the star of CBS series, "NCIS: Los Angeles" alongside Chris O'Donnell.

Lil Wayne Heads to NY Jail in February

Lil Wayne is being sent to jail in his New York gun case just days after his next album comes out.

The rap star's Feb. 9 sentencing date was set mid December in a Manhattan state court. He said nothing during his brief appearance.

The Grammy winner pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. It stemmed from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. His plea deal calls for a year in jail.

Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman announced on his Twitter account last week that Lil Wayne's next album, "Rebirth," is due for release Feb. 1.

Time Square Shooting Linked Victim to Kanye West

An up-and-coming rapper by the name of Ready had a brush with fame before his life was taken last Thursday in NYC's Times Square. In 2008, Ready (born Raymond Martinez) squared off with Grammy Award-winning rapper/producer Kanye West during an episode of MTV’s “Hood Fab.”

Ready pulled out a last-minute victory during his “Hood Fab” challenge with Ye and received a package of tube socks and a Footlocker gift certificate.

As previously reported, Martinez was killed after firing a machine pistol at an NYC police officer. The cop approached him after noticing him aggressively peddling his mixtapes to tourists in Times Square, at which point Martinez took off running. He then pulled a Mac-10 9mm and started firing shots- prompting the officer to return fire.

Beaten Patrons Sues Jay-Z's 40/40 Club

One of the men beaten outside of Jay-Z’s Atlantic City nightclub is now suing the club and the security members responsible for the attack that was caught on tape.

TMZ is reporting that Bryant Norwood is now asking for a “substantial amount of money” from Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club, claiming that security beat him for “no reason” as he was leaving the venue in November.

“These so-called security personnel are going to have to answer why Mr. Norwood was lying on the ground being kicked and why he was punched in the head as he tried to escape from them,” Norwood’s attorney told TMZ. “The 40/40 Club is going to have to answer why they hired people like this to supposedly protect their patrons and maintain order in their establishment.”

According to the lawsuit filed in New Jersey State Court, Norwood alleges he has sustained “diverse personal injuries” and “permanent injuries.”

Two other men attacked in the fight are also planning to file lawsuits in the future. Several members of the Atlantic City 40/40 Club were subsequently were terminated from their jobs after videotape surfaced showing the bouncers beating two men in the club’s parking lot. Security claimed that they initially approached the men after receiving complaints that the men were accosting women. When security tried to escort the men out of the venue, they began attacking them.

Be on the look out for more details as this story develops.

Indefinite Leave From Golf For Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods said Friday he is taking an indefinite leave from golf to try to save his marriage, the biggest fallout yet from two shocking weeks filled with allegations of rampant extramarital affairs.

"I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person," Woods said on his Web site. Woods and his wife, Elin, have been married five years and have a 2-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son.

The announcement came two weeks after Woods crashed his SUV into a tree outside his Florida home, setting in motion a stunning downfall for the world's No. 1 player who for 13 years rarely made news off the golf course. One woman who said she had a 31-month affair with Woods shared a voice mail that she said Woods left her two nights before his Nov. 27 accident.

"I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children," Woods said. "I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try."

Woods has not been seen in public since the accident.

He gave no indication when he might return in what could be a pivotal year as he pursues the record 18 major championships won by Jack Nicklaus. Woods, who did not win a major this year, has 14. The Masters, where Woods has won four times, is April 8-11. The U.S. Open is at Pebble Beach, where Woods won by a record 15 strokes in 2000, and the British Open returns to St. Andrews, where he has won twice by a combined 13 shots.

It will be the second straight year that a PGA Tour season begins without its star player. A year ago, Woods was recovering from reconstructive knee surgery that kept him out a total of eight months. This is different.

"We knew before he was coming back," said Steve Stricker, one of Woods' favorite players on tour. "Now, we're not sure when he's coming back. But this sounds good. I hope everything works out for him." The PGA Tour supported the decision.

"His priorities are where they need to be, and we will continue to respect and honor his family's request for privacy," PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said in a statement, the tour's first public comment since Woods mentioned his "personal failings" and "transgressions" in a Dec. 2 statement. "We look forward to Tiger's return to the PGA Tour when he determines the time is right for him."

Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, told The Associated Press that it was the right decision for Woods and his family. "The entirety of someone's life is more important than just a professional career," Steinberg said in an e-mail to the AP. "What matters most is a young family that is trying to cope with difficult life issues in a secluded and caring way. Whenever Tiger may return to the game should be on the family's terms alone."

Craig Parry, who played a practice round with Woods in Australia last month, said Woods brought the problems on himself. "What he did was totally wrong," Parry said at the Australian PGA Championship. "And he's got no one to blame except himself. You can look at other people, but he's the one who's got to look in the mirror."

Woods was out of action from July 2008 until the end of February this year, and television ratings dropped 50 percent. The tour is trying to renew a half-dozen title sponsors, and it is to begin negotiations on the next television contract later next year.

As for Woods' corporate endorsements, all have stood by him for now.

"Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade," Nike said in a statement Friday. "He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf. He and his family have Nike's full support."

Meanwhile, Accenture no longer has an image of Woods on the home page of its Web site. Earlier this week, Woods standing amid cactus plants studying his next shot was among three rotating pictures on the home page.

Steinberg said it would be "premature and inappropriate" to talk about Woods' specific business relationships. "Suffice it to say, we have had thoughtful conversations and his sponsors have been open to a solution-oriented dialogue," Steinberg said. "Of course, each sponsor has unique considerations and ultimately the decisions they make we would fully understand and accept."

Earlier this year, Woods became the world's first athlete to surpass $1 billion in career earnings, according to Forbes magazine. His sponsors include Nike, Gillette, AT&T, Gatorade and Tag Heuer. Woods last played a tournament Nov. 15 when he won the Australian Masters for his 82nd victory around the world.

Stricker, who went undefeated as Woods' partner at the Presidents Cup, said his leave was the right decision. "I think it's great that he's going to put his family first and work things out," Stricker said from Naples, Fla., where he is playing the Shark Shootout. "Golf will always be there. He wants to make sure his marriage is right and everything is good on the homefront. We'll sure miss him on tour until he gets things taken care of."

Woods also indicated he would step away from the work of the Tiger Woods Foundation, which has served some 10 million children. "There are millions of young people who have truly changed their lives through the foundation's programs, and millions more still counting on us for help," Woods said in a separate statement through his foundation. "I am committed to them and to the foundation's excellent work, and I know my staff will continue these efforts during my absence."

Bouncers Fired from Jay-Z's 40/40 Club

The bouncers caught on tape savagely beating two patrons of Jay-Z’s Atlantic City 40/40 Club have been fired from their jobs.

TMZ.com spoke with Couri Glen, the former supervisor of security for the popular Atlantic City night club.

According to Glen, he and the other bouncers kicked Tyrell Durant and Leonard Clark out because they were groping women on Saturday, November 28.

Glen claims that he and the bouncers were "just doing there jobs" in escorting them men out of the club when Durant and Clark began swinging on them.

Glen and the other bouncers were officially fired for misconduct.

At press time, police were still considering assault charges against the men involved in the brutal beating.

Brandy The Rapper "Bran Nu"

R&B singer Brandy recently launched her new career as a rapper on Timbaland’s new album Shock Value 2.

Brandy created the new rap alias Bran’ Nu and rhymes under the alias on the track “Meet in The Middle,” which is taken from Timbaland’s album, which hit stores Tuesday (December 8).

Timbaland tapped Brandy for her rhyming ability after he saw a video of the singer rhyming on YouTube.

“What I’m doing on the album is a little bit different than what everybody knows me for. It was a great experience. I got a chance to be another part of myself,” Brandy said in published reports.

Shock Value 2 is the follow up to Timberland's platinum selling album Shock Value which was released in April of 2007.

The original album spawned hit singles from, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and One Republic.

Shock Value 2 is in stores now.

Nas Ordered To Pay Kelis over $50,000 a Month

Yesterday (December 9), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Cunningham ordered Nas to pay $51,101 a month in spousal and child support to ex-wife Kelis.

Cunningham made his ruling following two days of testimony from Nas and Kelis.

Kelis verified that she inked a new recording contract with Interscope Records for $175,000. However, her attorney explained that the majority of that sum was paid out to her managers, leaving the singer with only $50,000.

When cross-examined, she told Nas attorney Mark Kaplan that her comeback career was a far cry from her former chart topping fame circa the 2003 single “Milkshake,” indicating that her latest song was quietly dropped on Twitter.

Her income could also not be determined, as documentation shows Kelis has not filed an income tax return in years.

In Nas’ testimony, the Queens legend confirmed that he would not release solo album in 2010, but did not disclose whether that included his Damian Marley collaboration LP Distant Relatives. His statements also revealed that he owed $700,000 to his manager, and $2.5 million in back taxes to the IRS.

Along with the spousal and child support decree, Nas is now relieved of having to pay the $13,000 a month mortgage for the ex-couple's Los Angeles home, in which Kelis currently resides.

Before yesterday’s verdict, Nas was reportedly paying close to $40,000 a month in temporary support.

At press time, neither Nas nor Kelis have personally commented on the ruling.

The Game Speaks Out On His Freestyle

The Game approaches the runway again and the Compton rapper is certainly ready for lift off with his new album, The R.E.D. Album. Game, always a contentious person, explains a few recent happenings in his life, namely a drunken freestyle, Detox and the 411 on his new album.

Game was asked:
"What was behind your drunken freestyle? You mentioned Wayne, Jim Jones, Gucci Mane and Suge Knight. Were these intentional mentions?" He responded: "Number, 1 I was in the club. Number 2, you noticed the lights was on and we all know when the lights come on in the club, what time is it? It’s closing time. I was intoxicated, man, well over the drinking limit and I was just doing a freestyle for the people. People always try to act like California cats can’t freestyle and I am one of them cats that’s the exception to that rule. I get it in."

So was any of it personal?

He responds: "As far as the Lil Wayne stuff and Gucci and Jim Jones. I am from Compton, California. We all know where gang bangin’ started, especially the crips and the bloods. I am a blood. I am a world renowned blood, I’m from West side, Cider Block Piru. Before me it was DJ Quik and Mack 10, but nobody took it as far as I took it. I been around the world with it. I got white kids in Wisconsin rocking Cincinnati Reds hats and wearing rags. Not that they’re gang banging, but I’m saying it turned into a trend. I wasn’t calling them fake bloods or anything. But just in case it got taken out of context, I talked to Baby and I hollered at Lil Wayne just to make sure they didn’t take it the wrong way and they didn’t. I reached out to Jones, and then Gucci is locked up, but that’s like one of my brothers in Hip-Hop, so they know what’s up."

Hmmm...what about the Suge Knight references?

What about the Suge Knight reference?

Game states: "I always been at odds with Suge, because Suge was the first dude I took my demo to and at that time he had Crooked I and Eastwood doing the Death Row thing. And ever since Pac and Snoop and Dre was all on Death Row, I felt that’s where I needed to be, because that’s where my role models were. Those were the n***as I looked up to growing up outside of Eazy-E. I was always bitter and mad at Suge for not signing me to Death Row, which was probably a blessing in disguise because I ended up signing with Dr. Dre."

Ruff Ryders Reunite

New York rap label Ruff Ryders has announced several new projects in 2010, including a reunion album featuring DMX, Eve and The Lox, a new album from Drag-On and a new venture, Ruff Ryder Indy.

Drag-On, born Mel Small, will release his third and final album for Ruff Ryders entitled My Life, My Legacy, My Melody in March.

The release will drop on Drag-On’s own record label Hood Environment, which he founded in 2006.

"I’ve reinvented myself and created a whole new sound," commented Drag-On. "I’m trying to create another umbrella in this game with my label Hood Environment and my artists Da Dude and Eyez.B. However, I’m still the original ‘Fire-Man.’"

Drag-On entered into a joint venture deal with Ruff Ryder Indy to distribute his third official release.

Ruff Ryder Indy is a new, national distribution company founded by Ruff Ryder CEO Waah Dean. The distribution company serves independent artists with various album budgets.

“Over the last 20 years, my family and I have built the Ruff Ryders brand on good music, original talent and hard work,” Waah Dean stated. “Now, we are entering a new chapter of our company with album releases from Drag, Mook and the Ruff Ryder team, as well as the creation of our new ‘Ruff Ryder Indy’ division.”

Drag-On’s album will be followed by Ruff Ryders Evolution: Generation I.

The album will feature production from group member Swizz Beatz, in addition to appearances by Jadakiss, Styles P., Sheek Louch, Eve, Drag-On, DMX and the label’s newest artist, Mook.

Russell Simmons' Reality TV on Oxygen

Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons has finalized his own assistant reality series entitled The Russell Simmons Project, through the Oxygen TV network.

The show will chronicle Simmons' female assistants who are challenged with juggling his business deals along with their family and love lives.

Simmons’s show will distinguish itself from other reality assistant series through a diverse, all-female cast, which appealed to Oxygen.

"Russell Simmons is a fascinating man and seeing his world through the eyes of his dream team comprised of strong, passionate women provides a unique experience for our viewers," explained Oxygen Senior VP Amy Introcaso-Davis. "We're excited to team up with Russell on this project and shine the spotlight on his core group that are living the dream alongside him.”

The development and production of the show is a joint venture between Simmons’ Lathan Media Group, and Emmy-winning company Picture This Television.

"Throughout my career I have surrounded myself with people smarter than me," Simmons disclosed in a prepared statement. "This show will let them shine and provide insight into how we build our empire from the inside out."

There has not been an air date scheduled as of yet for The Russell Simmons Project.

Nas Blames DUI Arrest On "Racial Profiling"...What Do You Think?

Queensbridge, NY rapper Nas blames racial profiling as to why he was pulled over for a DUI arrest back in September 10, 2009. As previously reported, Nas failed several sobriety tests, and was arrested by Henry County police in Georgia. The entire arrest was caught on tape.

Over the weekend, Nas was in Katsuya, a sushi bar in Los Angeles, and shared his thoughts with TMZ when asked about his recent arrest.

Even though he confessed to police that he smoked marijuana before he got behind the wheel, and is featured in a six-minute-plus clip that shows him struggling to maintain a sober walk and keep his balance on one foot while counting, the rapper claims "profiling."

The case was thrown out because Nas' drug test came back negative.

"You know what it is…profiling man," Nas told the crowd of paparazzi as he boarded his vehicle. "But you, they can't stop a good man from shining man."

Jezzy Squashes Beef With Gucci Mane & DJ Drama

Collaborators-turned-foes Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane have finally squashed their beef during DJ Drama's show on HOT 107.9 FM.

The two Georgia natives were at odds for the past several years over an array of issues that have spilled out of the recording booth. While Jeezy was there to clear things up with DJ Drama - the two recently had a falling out over mixtape fees among other things - Gucci Mane, who is currently incarcerated, called in to the station to chat with the two hip-hop powerhouses.

“I just like to say, it’s way bigger than all of us,” Gucci told Drama and Jeezy. “And I feel like the way the city’s been supporting our music they deserve this. It’s about that time, we getting older…let’s do it for the city.”

Before speaking with Gucci, Jeezy and Drama patched things up, deciding it was only natural that people agree to disagree on issues.

Back in September, Jeezy made his issues public during an interview in XXL Magazine calling Drama a cornball for attempting to be something he wasn’t. Jeezy told XXL, “Drama wanted to be Khaled, but he didn’t want to help nobody. He just changed period. Look at his crew. The same niggas ain’t around him. You ain’t never been in no streets. I could never have no beef with no nigga like that. He’s a cornball.”

Drama explained to Jeezy, “I think it’s really important for us to sit down and do this because in this music industry a lot of things come back to communication.” Jeezy simply responded, “Communication is the key, homie. Conversation rules the nation.”

Young Jeezy is set to drop his "Thug Motivation: 103" in March 2010.
